Arjo Atayde is poised to win as the congressman of Quezon City’s 1st district in the 2025 midterm elections based on partial, unofficial results of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
The actor-turned-politician received 88,700 votes as of 12:09 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, while his opponent Bingbong Crisologo trails him with 63,171 votes.
The 2025 midterm elections mark Atayde’s second attempt to be elected as Quezon City’s 1st district representative, a position he has held since 2022. He is currently running under the Nacionalista Party.
Referred to as “Cong Arjo” in his bailiwick and among entertainment circles, Atayde is known for his lead roles in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” “The General’s Daughter,” “Cattleya Killer,” and “Bagman,” as well as the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2024 film entry “Topakk.”
Atayde is the son of screen veteran Sylvia Sanchez and Spanish-Filipino businessman Art Atayde. He is also the husband of “Eat Bulaga” mainstay host and internet personality Maine Mendoza, whom he married in July 2023 at a private ceremony in Baguio City. /edv
