Actress-turned-politician Angelu de Leon was officially proclaimed as one of the winning councilor in the second District of Pasig City on Tuesday morning, May 13, marking her second term.
De Leon, who ran under the “Giting ng Pasig” slate of incumbent Mayor Vico Sotto, secured 143,679 votes, ranking first among other candidates for councilor in the district, including fellow actress Ara Mina.
Sotto’s slate dominated the race as its vice mayor, congressman, and 12 of its city council candidates were proclaimed winners in a short program after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) city board of canvassers received 100 percent of the election returns.

De Leon took to social media to thank her supporters for what she called a win for “good governance.”
“It’s true, Round 2 for District 2! We are grateful with all our hearts for the trust you have given me to serve again for a second term. I would not have achieved this without your support,” she wrote on Facebook.
“The victory of ‘Giting Pasig’ is the victory of our people. Expect us to further improve the Tapat, Gawa, Ina, Serbisyo for every Pasigian. Pasig continues to excel in good governance,” continued the actress.
Ara Mina, who ran under the ticket of opposition mayoral candidate Sarah Discaya, lost the race in the 2nd district after mustering just 41,492 votes, placing her at the 10th rank.
In the first district, reelectionist and former “Survivor” castaway Kiko Rustia was also able to secure a seat in the city council after receiving 81,654 votes.
Meanwhile, beauty queen Shamcey Supsup-Lee, who joined Discaya’s team for 1st district but later on left the team after the controversy involving their party’s congressional candidate, Christian “Ian” Sia, came short after ranking 7th place with 32,399 votes. /edv
