Marina Summers makes history as first Filipino drag queen to walk Cannes red carpet

Marina Summers made history as the first Filipino drag queen to grace the red carpet of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
Marina celebrated this milestone on her social media by highlighting the significance of representing the Filipino drag and queer community at the global event.
The Philippine pride looked radiant in her one-shoulder, sequined black gown, complemented by chain-link earrings.
“So honored to be the first Filipina drag queen to be invited to walk the red carpet of [@festivaldecannes]. Such a big moment to be repping for the Filipino Drag and Queer community in the sea of people on the red carpet,” she wrote in her caption.
Marina also thanked her glam team for making “herstory” with her, stating, “I owe you big time! I will forever treasure this moment! Love you!”

In a separate post, Marina shared a memorable moment with Hollywood star Angelina Jolie after the latter complimented her look.
“Guys, Angelina said I looked gorgeous tonight,” she said, sharing a photo of Jolie looking at her.
Last year, Marina became the first drag queen from the Philippines to compete in “RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. The World.”
She was also the first contestant on the international show to win three Lip Syncs for the World, thus obtaining three Golden RuPeter Badges.
In 2022, she was named a runner-up in “Drag Race Philippines” Season 1. Marina began performing as a drag queen in 2019 and recently released her debut single, “I Have Arrived.” /ra
