It was an extravagant display of cultures from different parts of the world as the 2025 edition of the Miss World 2025 pageant kicked off its coronation show with its 108 candidates prancing on the stage.
The ladies, including Philippines’ own Krishnah Gravidez, appeared to have brought with them their respective face card as they paraded onstage donning their respective costumes as they gracefully joined the movements of the dancers.
The opening performance showed the candidates grouped in their respective continental groups, namely, Americas and Caribbean, Africa, Europe, and Asia and Oceania.
The Miss World livestream then showed the cultural places that the candidates went to during their month-long stay in India, as well as a glimpse of the pre-pageant activities that every aspiring candidate had to go through.
Capping off the opening is a brief introduction of the candidates (grouped in their respective continental units), donning their most spectacular gowns. Their outfits during this stage of the competition, however, are not counted as part of the evening gown segment.

During Gravidez’s introductory walk, she was wearing a simple Rian Fernandez off-the-shoulder silver trumpet gown with a bead strand dangling from her shoulder, and what looked like a sheer keyhole cutout on the chest from which a large teardrop crystal pendant hung. Her gown itself was fully-embroidered with rhinestone crystals forming what looked like sun ray design. She had her long tresses flowing behind her.
The Miss World 2025 tilt returned after a two-year gap, which, according to its chairman and CEO Julia Morley, will now take place every other year. This year’s edition is held at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Telengana, India on Saturday, May 31.
Gravidez joins the list of aspiring Filipinas aiming to win the country’s second Miss World crown, which has long remained elusive following the reign of Megan Young in 2013. Despite not winning in the global tilt’s Fast Track challenges, her performance was not left ignored by pageant observers, as she consistently has been considered the favorite to win.
The pageant will culminate with the reigning titleholder, Czech Republic-based Krystyna Pyszkova, passing her crown and title to her successor. /edv
