The annual celebration of Pride Month has seen more and more individuals embracing authenticity and championing love.

In the entertainment scene, for instance, several celebrities have recently shared their truths as allies and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Here’s a look back at their coming out stories:

Singer Klarisse de Guzman came out as a bisexual last April during her stint as a housemate at the “Pinoy Big Brother” house.

De Guzman opened up about her sexuality as she and her then-fellow housemates did a special task where they were asked to introduce themselves on a deeper level.

She also revealed at the time that she has been in a four-year relationship with her non-showbiz girlfriend Trina.

“I am very lucky that my parents have accepted me. It was not hard for me because even most of my relatives know about my identity,” she said. “I am proud! Love wins!”

Explaining why she initially kept her sexuality a secret, De Guzman admitted she was scared to be judged by the public.

“So this is how it feels to be free. I just wish that the public will also accept me. That’s my only prayer,” she said.

BAIN of K-pop boy group JUST B revealed he is gay during their concert in Los Angeles, California, last April.

“Tonight, I want to share something with you guys. I’m f***ing proud to be a part of the LGBTQIA community,” the K-pop artist said before performing to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” and “Judas.”

“Shout out to my queen Lady Gaga [who showed me] that being different is beautiful. To anyone out there who is part of the LGBTQ+ or still figuring [it] out, this is for you guys. And also, this is for everyone,” he added.

BAIN further identified himself as a “gay person” in his Instagram post.

Lara and Megan

Lara and Megan of global girl group KATSEYE respectively came out as part of the LGBTQIA+ community in March and June.

Lara, who identifies herself as queer, made this revelation through the fan platform Weverse.

“I knew I was half a fruitcake when I was like eight, so I really was wanting everybody,” she said. “Honestly, probably before eight. Isn’t half a fruitcake such a good way to explain it without saying it?”

Lara then thanked her fans for being supportive, crediting them for making her more confident in embracing her true self.

“I’m so grateful that people in my life and you guys are so supportive. I feel so proud of it, no shame at all. I love that part of me,” she stated.

Megan, for her part, came out as bisexual during a live broadcast with Lara earlier this month.

Aubrey Anderson-Emmons

American actress Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, best known for her role as Lily Tucker-Pritchett in “Modern Family,” came out as bisexual last June 17 through a video on her Instagram page.

In the clip, Anderson-Emmons lip-synches a dialogue of hers from a scene of the TV series. The scene includes Sofia Vergara’s Gloria Delgado-Pritchett telling Anderson-Emmons’ Lily that she is Vietnamese. “No I’m not! I’m gay! I’m gay!” the latter then responds.

In the caption, Anderson-Emmons wrote, “People keep joking so much about me being gay when I literally am. I’m [bisexual].”

“Happy pride month to all, and to all a goodnight. Hehehe,” she added.

Airyn De Niro

Airyn, the daughter of American actor-director Robert De Niro, came out as a transgender in May and revealed that she had begun hormone therapy in November 2024.

“I think a big part of [my transition] is also the influence Black women have had on me,” Airen, whose mom is American actress-model Toukie Smith, said in an interview with Them magazine.

“I think stepping into this new identity, while also being more proud of my Blackness, makes me feel closer to them in some way,” she added.

Airyn has the support of her dad who declared, “I loved and supported Aaron as my son, and now I love and support Airyn as my daughter.”

“I don’t know what the big deal is,” the “Godfather” star added. “I love all my children.” /ra
