Mayeth Malca, Ricky Davao’s non-showbiz partner, expressed her longing for him as she lamented how her “life doesn’t feel right” after his passing.
Malca dedicated an open letter to Ricky whom she addressed as “Bubba” and regarded as the “bravest and strongest person” she has ever known, via her Instagram page on Friday, May 2.
“From the very beginning up to your last breath, I saw how fiercely you fought,” she said. “The best decision I have ever made in my life was to be with you and never leave your side all throughout.”
Recalling some of their last conversations, Malca narrated how the late actor would always ask her if she had become tired of caring for him while he battled cancer.
“I always had just one answer for you, Bubba: ‘I will never get tired of taking care of you—because we are in this journey together.’ You would smile and say, ‘Thank you. I love you, baby.’ Those words alone gave me all the strength I needed to keep going,” she stated.
“I didn’t fully believe in the idea of unconditional love. But loving you changed that,” she continued. “Thank you—for your love, for your courage, for your trust, and for letting me walk with you through your most difficult days.”
Malca then spoke about how Ricky’s death has left an “emptiness that nothing can fill.”
“I lied when I told you I’d be okay. I lied when I said I’d be strong. Because the truth is, life doesn’t feel right without you,” she lamented. “But I carry you with me, always. In my heart, in my memories, in every quiet moment.”
“I love you forever, my man, my Bubba,” she concluded.
