The first edition of the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences’ (FAMAS) iteration of the Short Film Festival is coming to a close, as it bared the list of nominees for the upcoming awards ceremony on May 10 at the Music Museum.
The FAMAS Short Film Festival was established by the movie-centered organization and REMS Entertainment in hopes of putting the spotlight on culture-based storytelling and boosting the arts through short films. According to the festival director, Gabby Ramos, the first iteration of the hybrid festival doesn’t have a theme, although “credibility” will be placed at the forefront.
“The selection team will be focusing on the creativity and of course, the narrative of the short. And dito rin makikita ang expertise ng entire group kung papaano sila [makakagawa] ng short film. ’Yung FAMAS ay magbibigay ng award sa pinakamahusay na short film na papasok sa iba’t ibang [categories],” Ramos said during a media con last February.

This is where the expertise of the filmmaking group comes in, as it will judge the quality of their filmmaking. The FAMAS will present an award to the best short film that qualifies in its respective category.)
