Andres Muhlach extols mom Charlene Gonzalez in ‘Ikaw ang Miss Universe ng Buhay Ko’ MV

A few days before Mother’s Day, Andres Muhlach, paid tribute to his mother, Charlene Gonzales, through his newly released music video “Ikaw ang Miss Universe ng Buhay Ko” which features the latter’s footage from her pageant days. 

The music video shows Muhlach on stage performing his rendition of the 1980s hit “Ikaw ang Miss Universe ng Buhay Ko,” originally sung by the band Hotdog. At one point, a footage of Gonzales representing the Philippines in the Miss Universe 1994 pageant was displayed on screen as the young actor watched his mother.

The three-minute music video also includes short clips of Gonzales teaching a young Muhlach how to play the keyboard. The video concludes with the young actor fondly looking at his mother on the big screen.

After winning the Binibining Pilipinas title, Gonzales represented the Philippines in the Miss Universe 1994 pageant in Manila, where she won the Best National Costume award and finished as one of the Top 6 finalists. 

Gonzales’ “High tide or low tide?” response when asked by the host about the number of islands in the Philippines during the said pageant became one of the most iconic Q&A moments in Philippine pageantry. 

In 2001, the beauty queen married actor Aga Muhlach. They have twin children, Andres and Atasha. The family of four currently stars in the sitcom “Dar Pers Family” on TV5. 

The twins recently ventured into show business. Atasha is currently one of the hosts of “Eat Bulaga,” while Andres just wrapped up headlining the Wattpad adaptation “Ang Mutya ng Section E.”  /ra
